Quick start — set up your Trezor

This walkthrough gives you the recommended, secure way to set up your Trezor device. It covers unboxing, initializing, backing up your recovery seed, and connecting to Trezor Suite or compatible wallets.

1. Unbox and inspect your device.

Make sure the tamper-evident seal is intact. Only use the official packaging and cable that came with your Trezor.

2. Connect the device to your computer.

Use the supplied USB cable. Modern Trezors use USB-C; your OS will detect the device. If prompted, download Trezor Suite from the official source.

3. Initialize and create a new wallet.

Follow the on-screen steps in Trezor Suite to create a new wallet. Choose a strong passphrase option if you need an extra layer of security (optional and advanced).

4. Write down your recovery seed.

Write the seed on the included recovery card. Store it offline in a safe place. Never store the seed digitally or share it with anyone.

5. Install and manage accounts.

Add the cryptocurrencies you use (e.g., Bitcoin, Ethereum) and create accounts inside Trezor Suite or a compatible wallet.

6. Safeguard and verify.
